Milford Haven man took law into his own hands
9:50am Monday 13th February 2012
A MILFORD Haven man, who “took the law into his own hands” when he threatened a bus driver, was fined at Haverfordwest magistrates court on Tuesday.
Steven Christopher James Thomas, aged 24, of Cutty Sark Drive, was arrested when he told a bus driver that he would “smash his face in” on November 15, 2011.
The court heard that Thomas, who stopped his car in the middle of Hamilton Terrace, threatened the driver because of an earlier incident involving his grandfather that morning.
Thomas, who represented himself, said: “I am truly sorry for what I did.
“It was stupid to take the law into my own hands. It was just a threat – I had no intention of carrying it out.”
Thomas said he had written to the bus company and apologised to the driver.
He admitted using threatening words or behaviour to cause harassment alarm or distress.
Sentencing, District Judge Manning-Davies said: “If we all behaved like that when we had a grievance, there would be anarchy.”
Thomas was fined £200, and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £15 surcharge.
